Senior Embedded Software Engineer (TheBattery)

As a senior software engineer, you will help us build the operating system for our battery storage systems. This system connects the batteries to the electricity grid, to solar farms, wind turbines and anywhere else where diesel generators can't really be used. The demand for these systems is growing rapidly and the technical developments are going very fast. So the focus within this role is not only on existing products, but also on making designs for new products.
The operating system is now written in C, python and linux, speaks many network protocols, covers an extensive codebase and is secure. These issues require innovative software-driven solutions. For the role of senior software engineer, we are looking for a passionate professional who can meet these challenges. Someone who enjoys sharing knowledge with other engineers so that the team's craftsmanship can be further improved.
With the R&D department we are making a transition to a renewed architecture. As a software engineer, you have an important role in this process. You work within multidisciplinary project teams and your strong communication skills enable you to quickly switch with other professionals. In this role you will work in our research and development department, focusing on the energy storage systems business unit (TheBattery). You will work in an enthusiastic team consisting of about 5 different developers.

What do we ask of you?
You are a secure and passionate software engineer (in C and Python) and know how to communicate naturally with various levels within the organization. In addition, you are independent and have a real no-nonsense mentality.
Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the following profile:
- You have a completed relevant technical HBO or WO education, such as Technical Computer Science, Embedded Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering;
- 5+ years of experience in software design, large codebases, and a proven track record of delivering robust and successful software;
- Strong in embedded programming, open source software, and architectural trends;
- Experience with network programming, concurrent, and programming in a unix/linux environment;
- Agile Scrum practitioner; Applies best practices (TDD, BDD, peer-reviewing, continuous integration, automated build environments).
