As a system engineer at Alfen, you are continuously working on innovations that are applied to our energy storage systems or charging systems for electric cars. Whether it concerns the development of new functionalities or the optimalisation of the existing products, you are up for the job!

What will you be doing?
As a System Engineer you will be responsible for the energy conversion from AC to DC and vice versa for the Energy storage or for the charging business unit.  You ensure that the different subsystems within one of these two product groups are safely and efficiently linked to each other.
Every day is different in this position. One day you are developing a new product with mechanical, electrical, and software aspects taken into account. With a focus on ,the standards that the products must comply (for example IEC & VDE) .However, the other day you will communicate with colleagues from the Product Management department. For example, for setting up an MRS and PRS in which a clear target is defined for the product requirements, and also define subsystems and component requirements. Another day you will assist our technical writers in creating product manuals or preparing test cases.

Depending on your knowledge-, experience- and interests, you will work for the product group ACE (charging stations) or TheBattery (energy storage systems).
In your position you are working in the R&D department on an functional scheme.

What do we ask?
For a good match, we would like to see in your CV that you have:

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or embedded systems;
  • 3-8 years of working experience in product development;
  • Experience with hardware designs/ schematics at both circuit board- and cabinet level;
  • Knowledge of basic communication protocols (I2C, SPI, RS485, RS232, CanBus, PLC);
  • Basis knowledge of embedded programming;
  • Hands- on experience with testing and making test plans;
  • Basic knowledge of Power Electronic systems and topologies, for example DCDC- and ACDC;
