Stephanie: 'Alfen is a company with heart and soul'

Stephanie Schockaert brought tons of experience when she came to work for us. She thinks that Alfen is moving nicely with the times. 'In my experience, this sector can be a little old-fashioned sometimes. Although Alfen has been around for a long time, it is a modern organisation, and that resonates with me.

My name is Stephanie Schockaert, I’m 39 years old and I live in Belgium with my husband Gerald and our three daughters Marie-Lynn, Fleure and Clarice. In 2000, I graduated as an industrial engineer in electromechanics. After that, I worked in the telecom industry for 17 years in global sales, direct sales, sales & marketing, business development, bid management and in a sales position for telecom solutions for industrial clients, including grid operators, Ministries of Defence, research centres and more.

At Alfen I am responsible for the Sales & Business Development of a broad product portfolio. I focus on solutions for energy storage, charging stations and transformer substations, in countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Italy. Alfen is a diverse company that gives me the opportunity to specialize in new topics, and to arrange and calibrate a multitude of things. That certainly can be challenging, but the solid company at which I work helps to add a sense of tranquility on hectic days.

I’ve only worked at Alfen for half a year, but it didn’t take long before I started to feel as part of the family quickly. Where I used to advise about and sell more abstract projects, it is now fulfilling to be able to work on the realization of projects that are very recognizable to friends and family as well.

In essence, Alfen is a highly technical company in the energy industry. And in my experience, this industry can be somewhat old-fashioned. Although Alfen has been around for a long time, it is a modern organization, and that resonates with me. This company is home to a vast amount of technical knowledge, which is translated into highly innovative products.

Especially in the past few years, Alfen has always been a few steps ahead of the energy transition. This enables me in my commercial role to attractively market our innovative products to our customers. In practice, new customers often don’t need much persuasion to become enthusiastic about our solutions. And if they decide to entrust us with their project, that motivates me and gives me satisfaction in my work. I look forward to continue to contribute to the growth of this wonderful company.

Alfen is a company with a soul. On the one hand, there’s vast expertise, but on the other hand, the innovation and organizational culture at this company feels like coming home. An industry that was old-fashioned for quite some time, is being made modern again at Alfen. In terms of company culture, people tend to quickly feel at home here, which was a great experience for me as well.
