IONITY has implemented a network of fast charging stations for EVs in Europe, for which Alfen has facilitated the local grid connection. IONITY is building a network of reliable and powerful fast charging stations along major routes across the continent. These stations are comfortable to use and allow fast-charging due to their capacity of up to 350kW. This capacity requires an enormous amount of electricity. Therefore, the available local grid connection usually needs to be expanded with a transformer substation.

IONITY is a joint venture of BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and the Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche. Last summer they launched a fast charging station with a capacity of 350kW. The partnership aims to develop 400 stations, all equipped with a maximum of six High Power Charging (HPC) sockets before the end of 2020. This makes long trips by EV much more enjoyable.
