What will you do?
Our team deals (within the R&D department) with software and networks for TheBattery, our innovative and large-scale "Battery Energy Storage System". As a Network Engineer you will help design and lay out industrial networks. You will help build and implement the designed network. This includes creating IP plans where redundancy plays a big role. A single point of failure may not cause a large site to go down. The networks are often built from multiple vlan's and the switches and routers are often redundant. So knowledge and affinity with switching, routing, vlans, VRRP, firewalls and VPN connections is very important. In your role as Network Engineer you are involved from sales up to - and including - the final delivery of a project. A nice challenge is that our systems have to be integrated into the customer's network, so you have to deal with different requirements and guidelines every time.
In addition to this network knowledge, you will need to build extensive knowledge of Alfen's TheBattery systems themselves. After these systems are deployed, they often need to be managed remotely. For this, experience with SNMP and Network Management Systems such as Zabbix or Nagios is a big plus. If problems occur you will of course be busy troubleshooting these problems. And finally, you ensure that the environment is always improved and you will be busy integrating the latest techniques.
