OPCHARGE recently secured a staggering 32 million euros in funding dedicated exclusively to hardware investments in the Dutch EV charging infrastructure. This achievement stands as the largest funding ever – a testament to OPCHARGE’s dedication to enabling mass e-mobility.

The highlight of this partnership is the adoption of Alfen’s cutting-edge Twin EV charging station for the public domain. With OPCHARGE set to acquire 4,000 Twins over the next 30 months combined with the possibility of expanding their installed base to 6,000 or more, these EV stations will revolutionise the charging landscape in and outside of the Netherlands – and accelerate widespread EV adoption.
Alfen’s Twin 5: Pioneering EV Charging Solutions
The Twin 5, Alfen’s latest innovation in EV charging is a robust, smart charging station designed specifically for public spaces. It features a dual socket with advanced functionality, including ISO 15118 communications protocols, making it perfect for high-volume streetscape environments. Future-proofed for bi-directional power transfer, the Twin 5 is ready to adapt to emerging technologies and industry standards, making it a reliable and innovative EV charging solution.
Twin 4XL: Timeless Design, Exceptional Performance
Alongside the innovative Twin 5, Alfen continues to offer the Twin 4XL, a station with a timeless design and exceptional performance. The dual socket Twin 4XL boasts features such as power output options ranging from 22 or 11kW per socket, a vandal-proof stainless-steel enclosure, LED indicator lights, energy management options, and advanced connectivity for remote monitoring and management.
All Twin stations have been approved and meet the technical requirements of Installing specifications according to the v3.0 norm. The Twins from Alfen have successfully passed the validation process conducted by Elaad and the Dutch grid operators to ensure the charging stations are safe, reliable, and compatible with the grid infrastructure throughout the Netherlands.
Excitingly, the journey has already begun! The first Twin charging stations under this contract were installed in July 2023, marking just the beginning of a great partnership that will accelerate mass EV adoption in Europe.
