Alfen supplied an energy storage system to WeertEnergie for solar power owned by a cooperative; a first of its kind. The COOP-Store (Cooperative Storage Renewable Energy) project aims to combine multiple cases: optimising local self-consumption from solar PV, providing grid stability services and energy trading.

WeertEnergie is a local cooperative of residents, companies and other organisations in and around the municipality of Weert with the objective to realise sustainability goals for the region.

Alfen supplied a 617 kWh battery energy storage system, including the local grid, in order to connect the new solar park with the storage system and the electricity grid. Other parties involved in the project are Scholt Energy Services for operating and handling the storage system, SEAC for measuring and analysing storage performance and Soltronergy for developing a solar park that will be connected to the local electricity system.
