Meet Ali

With a background in renewable technologies, Sales Manager Ali Bayır has spent the past five years expanding Alfen’s EV in northern and eastern Germany. When he’s not supporting customers to find the ideal solution for their e-mobility and energy storage needs, he can be found playing competitive volleyball with his semi-professional team in Berlin! Read on to learn more about Ali’s experience and his recent work with POHL Group.

What does your role involve?
As a Sales Manager, I’m responsible for supporting Alfen’s customers across northern and eastern Germany, primarily in the electric vehicle charging infrastructure market. My role includes managing existing customer relationships, handling commercial discussions and identifying new opportunities for business development. I work closely with a wide range of B2B customers, including charge point operators, system integrators, utilities and wholesalers, to support their needs and drive growth together.

How did you come to Alfen and what inspires you about your role?
I’ve long been passionate about supporting the energy transition. Before joining Alfen, I spent nearly six years in the photovoltaic industry, during the heigh renewable energy boom. I also witnessed the rapid rise of e-mobility in Germany and beyond. Alfen’s comprehensive portfolio of high-quality solutions made it clear that this was the ideal next step for me. It is inspiring to work for a true leader in EV solutions and to know that we are helping customers drive the e-mobility revolution forward.

What do you appreciate about the culture at Alfen?
One of the things I value most about working at Alfen is the collaborative environment. No matter where they are based, colleagues are always ready to help and support each other – everyone actively works together to find solutions. I also appreciate the strong cross-team collaboration, with colleagues from after-sales, operations and product management stepping in to assist sales efforts, meet with customers, present solutions and provide answers. It makes Alfen a truly supportive and dynamic workplace.

What did you enjoy about working on the POHL Group solar carport project?

POHL Group is a long-time Alfen customer, and the solar carport project was a good demonstration of their ambitious approach to e-mobility and renewable energy integration. Successfully delivering the project required strong technical expertise to combine photovoltaic systems with a grid connection, ensuring reliable charging performance. As always, our collaboration with POHL Group was open, transparent, and highly rewarding. I look forward to continuing our work together in the future.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Outside of work, I have several hobbies and activities that help me stay active and curious. First, I play in a semi-professional volleyball league in Berlin, where we train two to three times a week and participate in monthly tournaments – so it’s quite competitive! It’s also a great way for me to stay fit and socialise. In addition, I have a passion for photography, especially street photography, and enjoy traveling. I’ve had the opportunity to visit most countries in Europe, along with various destinations in the US, Asia and Africa. For me, photography is a way to connect with and explore different cultures.
