Meet Valery

Who can best tell you what it's like to work at Alfen? Our own colleagues, of course. This time we ask Valery to tell us a little about herself and her job at Alfen. In her role as corporate security officer, Valery is responsible for ensuring security within Alfen.

How did you end up at Alfen and what was your first impression?

"My first day at Alfen will stay with me for a very long time. I was welcomed so well on my first day at work and felt comfortable right away. I had great conversations with colleagues from moment one and this has never changed. I was impressed with the things that were arranged for me. On my first day, everything was ready for me and to top it off, I ended my first day at work with a big bunch of flowers. This made me feel extremely welcome."

How would you describe the culture and atmosphere within Alfen?

"Alfen is a tremendously good employer when it comes to dealing with employees. In addition to the fun atmosphere and mutual relationships within the various departments, events are often organized for colleagues. Think of St. Nicholas parties, anniversaries for all employees and team outings."

What does an average working day at Alfen look like?

"For me, no two days are the same. Every day different things can be relevant within my job. One moment I am busy shaping processes around safety and quality, where the next day I can be busy with improvement projects. Every morning it is a surprise for me what the day will bring me. Not everyone likes that, but I love it. Within a rapidly changing environment like Alfen's, there is also a changing set of tasks, which keeps the company and the job very lively."

What are the relationships within the team and what goes on within the department?

"As corporate security officer, I am part of team QHSE, which stands for Quality Health Safety Environment. This team as a whole is responsible for product quality, limiting hazards and risks and keeping environmental regulations in mind. Within the QHSE team, each specialist has their own field of expertise. Despite these differences, we are a close-knit team and often have fun together. This is something you see a lot of in other departments within Alfen as well."
