Tim: "Alfen has given me the opportunity to develop both my technical and personal skills."
This is Tim van Woudenberg. He is now 21 years old and has been working as a Junior Quality Engineer at Alfen for over a year. In the 3rd year of his Technical Business Administration studies at Windesheim University, he started his work placement at Alfen. Immediately after this internship, Tim was offered a part-time job at Alfen. Because he liked it so much, Tim decided to do his graduation internship at Alfen too. After receiving his diploma it was therefore only natural that Alfen would offer him a job as a Junior Quality Engineer.
Tim: "To be honest, I didn't know Alfen yet, but when I came across a vacancy on Indeed for an internship with good compensation, I decided to go for it. Although I had another internship option, Alfen attracted me more and this was a good choice."
Can you talk a bit about your experiences at Alfen?
"My main tasks during my graduate internship focused on improving logistical efficiency. But I soon discovered that there were also problems with cooperation between colleagues, which led to inefficiencies in production. Together with the team leaders, I worked to create a structure that emphasized cooperation, communication and behavior. It was a challenging assignment, but it gave me valuable insights. Besides gaining technical knowledge, I also learned the importance of dealing well with people. Business is very different from school. Alfen is an environment where people are open and approachable, which made the learning process a lot easier, as well as the transition from intern to employee."
What is the difference between your internship period and working at Alfen?
Tim: "Now I work as a Junior Quality Engineer and my day consists mainly of solving customer problems. Whether it's production problems or collaboration issues, I work with colleagues from different departments to come up with solutions. Our goal is to reduce complaints and improve customer satisfaction for a better future. Alfen has given me the opportunity to develop both my technical and personal skills."
How do you feel about Alfen now?
"I have a great time here! It's a place where collaboration and growth are encouraged. I look forward to what else the future holds for my career at Alfen."
