Collectric builds charging plazas at WTC The Hague using Alfen’s smart chargers
Collectric is a Dutch full-service EV charging facilitator. They develop and manage EV charging facilities for owners of commercial, residential and industrial real estate. Their mission: to accelerate the transition to clean mobility by electrifying parking, integrating all the elements needed for a smooth and hassle-free experience under one umbrella. That’s why, here at Alfen, we are thrilled that Collectric chose to use our smart chargers within their brand-new, custom-built charging plazas at WTC The Hague.
The challenge
WTC The Hague is a vast complex consisting of 42,500 m2 of first-class office space with extensive facilities such as a hotel, in-house gym, beauty bar, catering establishments and a conference centre. The tenants — several of whom are well-known international companies — all have access to a garage directly beneath the building with 925 parking spaces.
Collectric’s challenge: to provide a structural solution that enables WTC The Hague to respond to increasing demand for EV charging facilities as tenants shift to electric driving.
The solution
To meet the growing demand for EV charging stations in the garage, WTC The Hague selected Collectric as the EV charging service provider to plan and realize a facility within the garage. Collectric quickly developed an infrastructure plan for a phased rollout of chargers.
"Alfen shares our view that car parks have a key role to play in enabling the transition to electric driving," says Christiaan Storm de Grave, commercial director at Collectric. "Their charging stations have proven to be resilient and technically suitable for scaled deployment at our customers’ locations both in terms of installation and operation."
Technical details
The first phase, which began in early 2021, consisted of 16 Alfen Eve Double Pro-line EV charging stations. The Eve Double Pro-line is Alfen’s flagship smart solution for semi-public environments, designed for high usage and regular user changeovers, and featuring 2 sockets with optional load balancing across them.
Collectric expanded its plan to 48 Alfen Eve Double Pro-line duo socket stations. The charging infrastructure is made up of 3 separate plazas in a central area of the garage. Various safety interlocks ensure high availability while the consistent look and feel positively reflects on the quality of the building.
Implementation
WTC The Hague is now completely unburdened when it comes to providing a high-quality EV charging facility. Collectric as the service provider, is responsible for monitoring and optimizing performance against set KPI’s which enables a reliable service that is compliant with regulatory requirements and ensures sufficient availability of charging stations.
Collectric offers various service delivery models. They either develop and operate scalable charging facilities for their own account or offer asset management services where the facility is operated for their client’s account. WTC The Hague and Collectric share the view that a structural solution requires the charging facility to self-sustain.
As charging facilities are multi-disciplinary and require ongoing care, clients such as WTC The Hague are keen to outsource this much sought after facility to a professional provider.
