
Apprentice Mechatronics Technician – September 2026
Do you want to earn a recognized MBO diploma, gain paid work experience, and build a future in technology? The BBL work‑and‑learn program at Alfen gives you the opportunity to learn the trade while starting your career in a fast‑growing, innovative sector.
What will you do?
As a trainee mechanic, you will be trained to become an electrotechnical mechanic. During the two‑year BBL program, you will work within our three Business Units:
Every three months, you switch departments so you can gain broad experience and discover which direction suits you best. Together with experienced technicians, you will learn step by step how to build our high‑quality products. Your tasks include:
- Checking materials, components, technical drawings, and tools
- Independently performing assembly tasks such as lighting, cabling, rack pre‑assembly, and final assembly
- Spending 4.5 days per week learning in our modern production halls and applying what you learn immediately
What does the Alfen Academy offer?
The Alfen Academy is our in‑house training center and was named Best Training Company in the Netherlands in 2017. You will receive hands‑on training from our practical instructors and theory lessons from Deltion College teachers. You can expect:
- A recognized MBO‑2 diploma after 2 years
- A good salary during your education
- Working hours from 07:45 to 16:15
- Theory classes on Wednesday or Thursday
- Strong personal guidance from experienced practical trainers
- The possibility to continue studying at MBO level 3 afterward

Who is this BBL program for?
We focus on motivated starters as well as candidates with experience in production or technology. You work accurately, have an eye for detail, and enjoy collaborating with others. We are looking for candidates with:
- A completed MBO 1 diploma, VMBO (basic, kader, gemengd, or theoretisch), or a transfer certificate to HAVO/VWO year 4
- Good command of the Dutch language
- Work experience is not required, but experience in production or technology is a great advantage
