What will you be doing?
As a Senior Commissioning Engineer at Alfen, your focus is on commissioning, managing, and maintaining our advanced Energy Storage Systems (ESS). These systems are essential for balancing the electricity grid and making optimal use of renewable energy sources.
You will be technically responsible for the final phase of our ESS projects—from performing measurements and tests to troubleshooting and overseeing the handover process. You’ll carry out this work at project sites in the Netherlands and beyond. You’ll also provide valuable feedback to our development teams to support continuous improvement.
Your tasks and responsibilities include:
• Commissioning ESS installations on-site, including proper system integration.
• Performing electrical measurements, testing, and inspections on both low- and high-voltage components.
• Identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical issues, often in collaboration with other disciplines.
• Conducting maintenance work in accordance with NEN 3140/3840 standards.
• Checking product quality on-site and initiating improvements.
• Preparing technical reports on completed work, deviations, and inspections.
• Supervising and guiding (assistant) technicians at the project site.
• Participating in on-call duties and standby service rotations.
What do we ask of you?
We are looking for an experienced technical specialist with a hands-on mindset, who can work independently and takes ownership. You are communicative and meticulous, always working within applicable safety standards.
You also bring:
• A completed bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Automation.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering projects, preferably in energy storage or high-voltage systems.
• Experience with PLC systems (e.g., Siemens) and embedded software.
• Knowledge of electrical installations at both low- and high-voltage levels.
• Authorization as installation and/or operational manager (IV/WV).
• A valid VCA VOL certificate and preferably also First Aid (BHV) certification.
• Strong command of both Dutch and English.
