Join Alfen as a Spare Parts Engineer and optimize the global service inventory for energy storage and transformer stations. Use your technical and analytical skills to minimize downtime and maximize availability. Make a real impact in the energy transition!

What will you do?

As a Spare Parts Engineer in the Energy Storage Systems (ESS) and Smart Grid Solutions (SGS) service team, you will operate at the intersection of engineering, data analysis, and logistics. You analyze our global installed base of battery storage systems and substations, translating insights into smart spare part strategies tailored to regional service needs.

Your role is essential in supporting service readiness by:

  • Analyzing critical components based on failure behavior, lifecycle stages, and environmental conditions.

  • Reviewing EBOMs and MBOMs to identify required parts and providing input for exploded views and assembly instructions.

  • Collaborating with R&D, Maintenance Engineers, and logistics to align stock planning with technical configurations.

  • Supporting new product introductions by ensuring timely spare part availability and integration into our inventory and documentation systems.

Additionally, you lead optimization projects based on customer-specific requirements, participate in product variant working groups, and help improve spare part processes and systems. You'll also contribute to the development of tools, dashboards, and frameworks for our fast-growing service organization.

What do we ask of you?

We’re looking for an analytically strong engineer with a solid technical background and a sharp eye for process efficiency. You’re proactive, communicative, and comfortable operating across teams and disciplines.

Your profile:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a service-oriented technical environment.

  • Knowledge of supply chain management and reliability-centered maintenance.

  • Familiarity with power electronics (batteries, inverters, switchgear, transformers).

  • Experience interpreting EBOMs/MBOMs and translating technical documentation into inventory plans.

  • Skilled in forecasting, inventory management, and lifecycle tracking of service parts.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication in both English and Dutch (or willingness to learn Dutch).

What do we offer?

At Alfen, you will have a challenging and independent role with the freedom to contribute ideas and take ownership. In return, we offer:

  • A competitive salary and benefits in accordance with the Metalektro Collective Labour Agreement.

  • 27 vacation days + 13 ADV (reduction of working hours) days per year, with the option to sell 10 vacation days.

  • Company laptop and phone.

  • Free and unlimited access to our online learning platform.

  • Social events organized by our staff associations.

  • Free sports activities offered by Alfen.

  • Pension through the PME pension fund, with Alfen covering more than half of the premium.

  • Company van if applicable to the role.
