Field Service Technician - Belgium

What will you be doing?
As a Field Service Technician, you are the face of Alfen in the field. You perform maintenance and resolve on‑site issues on our systems, including energy storage systems (ESS) and transformer substations. You ensure installations are safe, reliable and quickly back up and running.
You work closely with our Support Engineers and document your work accurately to help improve our service performance. Every day is different, and you travel to various customer locations throughout Belgium.
Your responsibilities include:
- Performing annual maintenance according to planning and contractual agreements.
- Diagnosing issues, replacing components and repairing systems.
- Carrying out physical inspections, visual checks and technical measurements.
- Collaborating with Support Engineers on complex technical faults.
- Logging fault data and used materials in the ticketing system.
- Ensuring the service van is well‑organised and stocked with tools and spare parts.
- Identifying opportunities to improve products, processes and customer support.
- Following safety guidelines and reporting incidents.
What do we expect from you?
We’re looking for an independent, solution‑oriented technician with a customer‑focused mindset and strong communication skills. You work accurately, switch quickly and feel at home in a technical field‑service role. You bring:
- A completed technical education: MBO 4 (Netherlands) or TSO/BSO (Belgium) in Electrical Engineering or similar.
- At least 3 years of experience in a technical field‑service role within a B2B environment.
- Knowledge of and/or experience with power electronics (major plus).
- A B driving licence.
- VCA VOL and NEN 3140/3840 certificates (or willingness to obtain them).
- Good command of Dutch and English; French is a strong advantage.
- Willingness to work in shift schedules (evening/weekend) and to travel within Belgium and neighbouring countries.
