Almere, the Netherlands, 15 May 2025 – Alfen, a leading provider of smart energy solutions across Europe, is proud to announce its latest EV charging innovations: the Eve Single Plus and Eve Double Plus. These renewed chargers represent a significant evolution in Alfen’s portfolio, combining future-proof technology, enhanced user experience and seamless integration to meet the fast-changing demands of the e-mobility market. Both products made their successful public debut last week at The smarter E Europe exhibition in Munich. 

Backed by over 85 years providing grid solutions, 17 years of EV charging experience and the installation of 843,000 charging points in over 30 countries, the new additions to the Plus range are built with the future of mobility and the electricity grid in mind. Both units support interoperable bidirectional charging - also known as V2X (vehicle-to-everything) - based on the ISO15118-20 AMD1 standard, ensuring broad compatibility with different vehicle brands and energy systems as they evolve.

Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities can unlock new business opportunities for charge point operators to expand their smart charging and ancillary service propositions. Additionally, building or homeowners could optimise self-consumption of locally generated solar energy by utilising bidirectional charging, usually referred to as vehicle-to-home (V2H) or vehicle-to-building (V2B).  

The Eve Single Pro-line and the Eve Double Pro-line have been long-standing favourites for business and home use. With these new additions to the Plus range, we are leveraging our experience gained with the Twin 5 Plus in the public domain and are delivering that capability to business and home segments.  

With several hardware enhancements, an upgraded interface and hardware designed for bidirectional applications, the benefits to both customers and end-users are clear; reduced installation costs, seamless integration with existing management systems, long-term reliability, ease of use, contemporary look and future-proof design. 

Future-proof

Both models have been built to allow seamless integration into a wide range of EV and energy management systems and are fully aligned with upcoming European requirements. The Plus range incorporates smart charging capabilities and ensures open interoperability of charge point management systems via OCPP 2.x compatibility. As co-founders of OCPP we are committed to delivering a standardised, interoperable and open ecosystem. 

Availability

Planned for commercial launch in Q4 2025, the Plus chargers will be available in a variety of configurations, including versions with fixed cable(s), socket(s) and shutter socket(s) – tailored for both EU and German (Eichrecht-compliant) markets.
