Sr Project Engineer BESS

What you will you

Alfen produces a state-of-the-art battery energy storage system (BESS) that we call TheBattery. Each modular TheBattery system must be engineered to suit a demanding customer’s requirements and industry standards. As a senior project engineer it will be your job to take a project from a sales proposal through to an installed system, tested and ready for operation. The task involves working closely with project leaders, installation managers, designers, assembly, and of course the customer.

You translate customer-specific demands about their energy storage system and grid connections into creative and functional solutions. Naturally, you work in accordance with applicable national and international standards, and you make sure that the proposed solution adheres exactly to all requirements.

You discuss and agree the project specifications with the customer and translate them into parts lists, electrical diagrams, engineering drawings, and supporting documentation. Throughout the process, you perform electrical calculations and coordinate with internal and external technical teams to ensure alignment and technical consistency. In conclusion, you will be fully responsible for the technical delivery of a TheBattery project, ensuring it is safe, functional, and compliant with norms and requirements. You will collaborate closely with the project leader who oversees scope, budget, and schedule.

What makes this role even more attractive is that you will provide support in both pre-sales and after-sales activities. In this context, there is also a role for you in guiding and supporting product testing, and initiating product and quality improvements.

What we ask of you

For this position we're looking for someone with the following experience and character:

• You have a bachelor's or master's degree in the field of electrical engineering, power systems, energy technology, or similar.
• You have a deep understanding of power systems, enabling you to identify errors and suggest improvements when analyzing electrical drawings.
• You have knowledge of and experience with MS Office, PDM and ERP systems.
• You are proficient in organizing your work systematically, effectively and efficiently. You anticipate and respond to changes. You monitor the progress of tasks and activities and take action if necessary.
• You can coordinate the work of an team that includes electrical, mechanical, civil, software, and safety specialists, ensuring alignment and a shared commitment to common goals.
• You can propose original applications and solutions and, where necessary, consult on new methods and processes to replace existing ones.
• You like a challenge and take initiatives to improve results. You’re happy to discuss and defend your ideas within the team.
• You have a good  command of English language, both spoken and written. Dutch in not a requirement but it will make your life a little easier. Dutch lessons are available in Alfen.

Some experience in translating customer-specific requirements into a concrete electrical engineering design will help you become successful in this role. Safety is very important to us, so if you do not yet have a VCA VOL safety diploma you can of course obtain one with us!
