Alfen Ecodesign Principles
Alfen applies Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) on selected product families to identify environmental hotspots and guide improvements in our designs and supplier decisions. From 2027 onward, we will integrate life-cycle thinking into new product development to reduce environmental impact from the start.
Alfen uses environmental criteria to compare materials, limit hazardous substances, and reduce complex or mixed materials. Where feasible, Alfen prioritises simpler mono-materials and track critical and strategic materials to support responsible sourcing.
Alfen focuses on reducing energy use during operation and production by identifying efficiency hotspots and implementing measurable improvements. Alfen integrates the latest energy-efficient technologies and design requirements to minimize overall energy demand.
Alfen builds long-lasting products using robust components and by validating performance under environmental conditions such as dust and moisture. Alfen’s modular hardware allows key components to be replaced or upgraded, extending product life and reducing unnecessary waste.
Alfen designs for efficient repair through accessible components, clear disassembly points, and modular assemblies. Standardized spare part and upgrade kits enable trained service partners to replace or update key modules on site and extend the useful life of our products.
Alfen enables recyclability by restricting hazardous substances, reducing complex material combinations, and prioritizing mono-materials where possible. Components are designed for easier disassembly and separation to support responsible end-of-life processing.
