
Join Alfen as a Legal Energy Specialist and provide expert legal guidance on energy law, sustainability and procurement. You ensure compliance, manage legal risks and support the organisation with complex matters related to energy regulation and the energy transition.
What will you do?
You provide legal advice on energy legislation, secure compliance, manage contract risks and support projects related to the energy transition with clear, actionable and reliable legal guidance.
Your responsibilities include:
Legal Advice & Regulatory Compliance
- Provide expert advice on energy law, environmental law and procurement regulations.
- Ensure correct application of relevant legislation across the organisation.
- Monitor regulatory developments and translate changes into policies and procedures.
- Advise on grid congestion, energy regulation and transition‑related issues.
- Support compliant structures for sustainable energy projects and tenders.
Contract Management & Risk Control
- Draft, review and negotiate agreements such as PPAs, supply contracts and connection agreements.
- Ensure commercial and operational arrangements are legally safeguarded.
- Identify and mitigate contractual risks; ensure balanced agreements.
- Support efficient and successful contract negotiations.
Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Align effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Participate in multidisciplinary project teams and provide clear legal advice.
- Communicate legal implications and risks to non‑legal stakeholders.
Compliance Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Implement compliance guidelines, legal frameworks and internal procedures.
- Support audits, due diligence and legal risk assessments.
- Contribute to improving compliance systems, documentation and governance.
What do we ask of you?
- Master’s degree in Dutch Law, preferably with a focus on energy law or administrative law.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in the energy sector or legal practice.
- Strong knowledge of energy regulation, sustainability and the energy transition.
- Proven experience in contract drafting, negotiation and risk management.
- Strong analytical, communication and advisory skills.
- Proactive, independent and professionally mature work style.
- Fluent in Dutch and English.
