
Manager Engineering ESS
Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team and ensure the successful, safe, and high quality delivery of Energy Storage projects.
What will you do?
As the Manager Engineering, you hold end‑to‑end responsibility for all engineering activities within our Energy Storage Systems (ESS) projects. You lead the Project Engineering, Project Design and Grid Studies teams, ensuring technical quality, safety, and process standardisation at the highest level.
You function as the key link between engineering, project management, production, R&D, QHSE, Service and external stakeholders. With your leadership and technical expertise, you guarantee that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and fully according to specification.
You also play a critical role in continuous improvement, digitalisation, standardisation and the further professionalisation of the engineering organisation.
Your responsibilities include:
Leadership & Development
- Leading Project Engineers, Design Engineers, and Grid Studies Specialists.
- Creating structure, ensuring high‑quality output, and maintaining technical consistency.
- Providing coaching and conducting performance and development reviews.
- Solving escalations and complex technical challenges.
- Ensuring close collaboration with Project Management, Operations, R&D, QHSE and Service.
Project Engineering Excellence
- Coordinating all electrical and mechanical engineering activities within ESS projects.
- Collaborating with management, production and sales on project requirements and processes.
- Safeguarding technical and financial project objectives.
- Supporting Project Management on all technical aspects.
- Managing scope, planning, dependencies, and budgets.
- Ensuring an integrated multidisciplinary project approach.
- Continuously improving products, workflows, and collaboration.
Processes, Standards & Continuous Improvement
- Optimising engineering and production processes in cooperation with the Production Team Lead.
- Ensuring consistent documentation, configuration management, material availability, and quality checks.
- Identifying and resolving process bottlenecks.
- Developing uniform engineering standards and documentation structures.
- Leading improvement initiatives such as digitalisation, automation, model‑based engineering, and workflow optimisation.
- Tracking market and technology trends and translating them into innovative methods and improvements.
- Encouraging cross‑disciplinary collaboration and innovation.
Reporting & Information Management
- Preparing complete technical project plans and deliverables.
- Ensuring correct processing of design changes, revisions, and configuration control.
- Ensuring accurate updates in PLM, Jira, SharePoint, and other systems.
- Facilitating a controlled change‑management process.
What do we ask of you?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- At least 10 years of experience in a technical, project‑driven environment (energy, high‑tech, industrial systems).
- 3–5 years of leadership experience in engineering or project organisations.
- Strong knowledge of technical product development, project management, and supplier alignment.
- Experience with early‑phase engineering, R&D, or product development.
- Strong skills in scope, risk, planning, and budget management.
- Experience with CAD, PLM, and ERP systems.
- Familiarity with relevant standards, grid codes, and safety guidelines.
- Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills.
- Fluent in Dutch and English; German is a plus.
