What will you do?

As an Agile Coach at Alfen, you will be responsible for facilitating, enhancing and optimizing agile work processes, with a focus on both hardware and software development. Your role is pivotal in ensuring a smooth and efficient R&D process by:

  • Facilitating Communication – Helping teams work better together by improving how they connect and collaborate. As Alfen is at the beginning of its Agile journey, this role plays an important part in encouraging and supporting Agile ways of working within our R&D teams.
  • Removing Obstacles – Identifying and eliminating barriers that hinder progress.
  • Promoting Continuous Improvement – Encouraging an agile mindset and fostering ongoing enhancements.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software, electrical, and hardware engineers, to drive seamless integration and end-to-end product development.

Your tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing and evaluating current workflows and team collaboration, and preparing appropriate agile methodologies tailored to a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Collaborating with Chapter Leads and Technical Product Managers to understand the needs and challenges of teams and adapting agile frameworks accordingly.
  • Providing direct support to teams by coaching them in agile principles and methodologies, such as artifacts and ceremonies.
  • Improving communication between software, hardware, and electrical engineering teams to efficiently manage dependencies.
  • Supporting backlog refinement and sprint planning while considering interdependencies across and between teams and capabilities.
  • Ensuring transparent reporting on progress, quality, and challenges within agile processes.
  • Implementing feedback loops to support continuous improvement and help teams learn from past experiences.

What do we ask of you?

We are looking for an experienced Agile Coach with a hands-on, results-oriented, and structured approach. Someone who can effectively communicate at all levels and gain support for agile methodologies. Additionally:

  • A completed HBO or WO degree, preferably in a technical or science-related field such as Computer Science, Business Administration, or Engineering.
  • Experience as an Agile Coach or Agile Project Manager in a technical R&D environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with scaled agile frameworks such as Scrum@Scale.
  • Experience with agile tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and the ability to inspire teams towards continuous improvement.
  • Excellent proficiency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
  • Certifications in Agile methodologies, such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Agile Coach (ICP-ACC), or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) is prefered.
