Join Alfen as a Sales Engineer Service and help develop, advise on and deliver service solutions for our Energy Storage Systems. You combine technical expertise with commercial insight to drive successful service contracts, upgrades, modifications and spare‑parts offerings.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you are responsible for identifying, developing, and securing service‑related business for our ESS installations. You assess customer requests, translate technical and commercial needs into feasible solutions, and prepare sharp, competitive technical‑commercial proposals.

You act as the technical link between customers, Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and international stakeholders. You ensure perfect alignment between customer requirements, technical feasibility, regulatory standards, and Alfen’s technological capabilities.

Your core responsibilities:

1. Technical & Commercial Advisory

  • Analyse and evaluate customer requests, tenders, and RFQs.
  • Translate customer needs into technically feasible service solutions.
  • Prepare accurate and competitive technical‑commercial quotations.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for designated service customer segments.
  • Develop tailored service propositions for maintenance, upgrades, modifications, and spare parts.
  • Support customer meetings, contract implementation, and pre‑sales processes.
  • Maintain and manage product and service price lists.
  • Provide technical documentation such as datasheets, specifications, and drawings.

2. Technical Leadership & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering and Product Management to optimise proposals technically and commercially.
  • Guide internal teams in understanding system impacts, dependencies, and technical boundaries.
  • Act as technical expert during customer workshops, site visits, and technical discussions.

3. Requirements Analysis & Documentation

  • Review, analyse, and challenge customer specifications, grid operator requirements, and tender documents.
  • Prepare system drawings, datasheets, compliance statements and configuration documentation.
  • Support cost calculations by defining technical assumptions, system boundaries, and bill‑of‑materials data.
  • Ensure clear, complete, and well‑structured documentation for internal and external use.

4. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Align with cross‑functional teams to ensure consistent execution.
  • Support national and international customers and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to product innovation, standardisation, and service enhancements.
  • Demonstrate ownership in achieving departmental and service targets.

5. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Work in accordance with all QHSE standards and AIM procedures.
  • Safeguard safety, quality, and compliance in all customer interactions.
  • Ensure that internal and external stakeholders follow agreed safety practices.

What do we expect from you?

We are looking for a technical‑commercial professional who can independently navigate customer needs, technical options, and commercial opportunities. You bring:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, or Technical Business Administration.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a technical‑commercial role (service, sales engineering, proposal engineering).
  • Strong technical understanding of installations, machinery, or energy systems.
  • Commercial insight, persuasiveness, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with cost estimation, pricing, and TCO analyses.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Experience with MS Office, ERP, and CRM systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, resilience under pressure, and a hands‑on mindset.

What do we offer you?

At Alfen, you take on a role with real impact in a rapidly growing international organisation at the heart of the energy transition.

You can expect:

  • Competitive salary and excellent employment conditions.
  • 27 vacation days + 13 ADV days (with the option to sell 10 days).
  • Hybrid working (up to 2 days per week for a 40‑hour workweek).
  • Company laptop.
  • Free access to our online learning environment.
  • Activities via AlFun & Young Alfen.
  • Sports facilities and participation in fitness and sports events.
  • PME pension plan with a generous employer contribution.
  • Travel allowance of €0.23 per km (up to 50 km one way).

Where will you be working?

You will report to the Manager Service (ESS) and collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Supply Chain, and Project Teams. You are a key contributor to the success of our global service activities for Energy Storage Systems — from spare‑parts programs to full upgrade pathways.
