Senior Product Development Engineer

What will you do?

In this role, you are responsible for creating, developing and detailing mechanical designs for new products and improvements to existing solutions. You develop 3D concepts, perform FEM analyses, support prototype builds and translate designs into complete production drawings and bills of materials.

As a senior engineer, you’re not just a designer — you’re also an architect, coach and technical expert. You safeguard manufacturability, safety and quality, and play a key role in multidisciplinary R&D projects.

Your responsibilities include:

Engineering & Development

• Translating functional and technical requirements into a robust mechanical design.
• Developing concepts in 3D, including visualisations and detailed designs.
• Performing FEM analyses and strength/calculation studies to validate design choices.
• Selecting materials and components in consultation with Procurement and Engineering.
• Improving product assemblability, manufacturability and serviceability.
• Implementing design changes based on prototype evaluations and test results.
• Creating complete 2D/3D production drawings and BOMs.

Support & Collaboration

• Acting as a sparring partner and technical expert for engineers on complex design challenges.
• Supporting prototype builds and pilot series, resolving technical issues in collaboration with Production and Test Engineering.
• Supporting Production, Work Preparation and Sales with questions related to design or development output.
• Contributing to product introductions by explaining design considerations.
• Providing input for project planning, development timelines and design activities.

Documentation & Quality

• Documenting designs in the Technical Construction File.
• Providing input for technical manuals to the Technical Writer.
• Working in accordance with applicable QHSE guidelines and safety requirements.

Seniority & Leadership

• Guiding, instructing and coaching junior and medior engineers.
• Acting as a subject‑matter expert and advisor in complex technical discussions.
• Improving and securing work processes, methodologies and knowledge within the team.
• Exercising significant influence on architecture choices and technical solutions.
• Proactively identifying and resolving technical challenges.

What do we ask of you?

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
• Knowledge of electrotechnical installations.
• Several years of experience in product development within a technical environment.
• Experience with 3D CAD software, FEM analyses and ERP systems.
• Experience with project‑based work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to translate complex customer requirements into concrete technical designs.
• Excellent command of Dutch and English.
• Coaching skills and strong communication abilities.
