Alfen first in the world to achieve new EV charge point certification OCPP1.6 from Open Charge Alliance
Alfen is one of the first EV charger companies to achieve full Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) 1.6 certification from the Open Charge Alliance. This new certification for the EV charging industry confirms that EV technologies conform to the OCPP protocol based on independent tests. All of Alfen’s EV charging stations are covered by the certification.
The Open Charge Alliance, an international partnership of more than 150 companies active in the field of e-mobility, has been developing the Open Charge Point Protocol since 2009 to offer a common open communication standard for EV charging stations and back-end EV charging management systems. As well as promoting broader system scalability, by easing the interconnection and interoperability of all OCPP-compliant technologies, OCPP also acts as a standard for safety and reliability and helps avoid consumers being ‘locked in’ to products or service providers.
“Alfen believes that the fastest route to delivering the interconnection and interoperability required for future smart and sustainable energy systems, is through open protocols and common standards. This accommodates the fastest technology and market development at least cost to the consumer. We are therefore proud to have been contributing to the development of OCPP from the outset and thrilled to be the first organisation to receive certification.” – Marco Roeleveld, CEO at Alfen.
