Alfen wins Danfoss innovation award in Barcelona
At the Danfoss Drives Conference in Barcelona, Alfen won the prize for most innovative company of the year. Danfoss drives are used in Alfen’s energy storage system to convert battery power into power that can be used on the electricity grid.
Wouter Wolters, Solution sales manager at Danfoss Drives Netherlands, comments: “Alfen was selected because they combine their 80 year heritage on the power grid with highly innovative products and solutions. With their energy storage system they have integrated our drives in a novel application that is not only technologically advanced but also based on modular building blocks. This concept makes their storage system ideally suited to prepare the power grid for the future.”
Erwin Althof, R&D manager at Alfen, adds: “This award is a great testament to the development of our energy storage system that we started in 2011. Over the last years we have seen the demand for energy storage picking up rapidly, and are happy to see that also Danfoss has a strategy to increase its focus on the energy markets. Continuous innovation will be the key success factor for the large-scale integration of solar and wind on the grid and to accommodate the increasing penetration of electric vehicles.”
