IONITY selects Alfen to establish local grid connections for their fast EV-charging stations network
IONITY is rolling out corridors of fast EV-charging stations across Europe and has selected Alfen to establish the local grid connections. IONITY is building a network of reliable and powerful fast charging stations along major routes across the continent. These stations are comfortable to use and allow fast charging times due to their capacity of up to 350 kW. Such capacity requires enormous amounts of power typically requiring the available grid connection to be expanded with a transformer substation.
IONITY is a joint venture of BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and the Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche. Last summer they launched a fast charging station with a capacity of 350kW. All together, the objective of the joint venture is to build 400 stations, each equipped with up to six High Power Charging (HPC) points by the end of 2020 making long-distance travel with electric vehicles an enjoyable experience.
