It’s official: Alfen’s move to new HQ building in Almere is complete
Almere, the Netherlands – 5 September 2024 – Officially a wrap: the last Alfen colleagues in Production and Logistics have moved into our newest 24,000 sqm nearly energy-neutral building in the Dutch city of Almere. We are proud to say that our new facility now houses production lines for our Smart Grid solutions, a new warehouse and our Logistics and HQ office teams ... all under one (6000+ solar panel-covered) roof, at Hefbrugweg 79.
This transition into a new headquarter building was not just about changing locations. It was about creating a more efficient, future-focused and connected environment for everyone.
Positive changes already visible
Having our teams closer together is already showing results. The extra space and improved layouts in our production floor are streamlining workflows and boosting communications. Additionally, new overhead cranes and flow lines are enhancing efficiency according to best practice safety standards.
The new setup is also increasing output on our new flow lines for products that Dutch grid operators use, stabilising our processes and reducing waiting times. Overall, the move helps us stay connected and focused on what matters: working together effectively to better meet our customers’ needs.
The facility, strategically located in the De Vaart business park, includes 24,000 sqm of production space dedicated to manufacturing transformer substations, as well as some other key features including:
• 6,296 solar panels integrated with 96 of Alfen’s very own EV charging stations (AC models) in the parking lot
• 8 of Alfen’s Dash 30 EV chargers (30kW DC model)
• In-house developed mobile energy storage systems
• 3 of Alfen’s transformer substations
• A big warehouse with a modern management system for inventory storage and distribution
• 3 floors of office space, hosting a maximum of 300 members of the Alfen team
