
Field Service Technician ESS

What will you do?
As a Field Service Technician at Alfen, you are the face of our organization in the field. You work on advanced installations throughout the Netherlands (and occasionally abroad), ensuring optimal performance, safety, and system availability. You perform preventive maintenance, resolve technical issues, replace components, and support commissioning activities. Together with our Support Engineers and Product Teams, you provide valuable feedback that enables continuous improvement of our products and services.
Your tasks and responsibilities include:
- Executing (annual) maintenance plans focusing on safety, performance, and compliance.
- Analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving faults (electrical & control‑technical).
- Replacing, installing, and configuring components (e.g., power electronics, sensors, cabling, UPS, inverters).
- Performing measurements, tests, and inspections on LV/HV systems according to NEN 3140/3840.
- Documenting test results, findings, and completed work in clear service reports.
- Collaborating with Support Engineers to perform root‑cause analyses and ensure long-term solutions.
- Monitoring contractual KPIs such as uptime, response times, and resolution times.
- Identifying and advising on improvement opportunities (product, process, service).
- Participating in on‑call rotations and working occasional shifts when required.
What do we ask of you?
We are looking for an experienced technical professional with a hands-on mindset, who works independently, excels in safety‑critical environments, and is committed to delivering high-quality service. You bring:
- A completed MBO‑4 or HBO degree in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Automation.
- 5–10 years of relevant B2B field service experience.
- Proven knowledge of low‑ and high‑voltage systems (LV/HV) and power electronics.
- Experience with PLC systems (e.g., Siemens) and embedded software is a strong advantage.
- IV/WV authorization (or willingness to obtain); NEN 3140/3840 certification.
- VCA VOL (BHV preferred).
- Excellent command of Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing.
- A driver’s license B, strong self‑organization skills, and flexibility (including availability for on‑call/weekend/evening shifts).
- Willingness to travel frequently within the Netherlands and occasionally abroad.
