Hardware Test Engineer (TheBattery)

We are looking for an experienced hardware tester who has hands-on experience with power electronics, battery systems, transformers and/or power convertors. The test procedures are mostly explicitly described with references to applicable codes and standards. The hardware test engineer is also responsible for the complete test field where several battery storage systems (approximately 2MWhcapacity) are connected to a 10kV 1MW power supply and a 400V 750kW power supply.  

Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Maintain, improve and ensure safety of The Battery test field as NEN3140 WV appointed person; 
  • Switching low voltage side of the test field;  
  • Setting up test environments, update and adjust test plans in alignment with project management; 
  • Execute type test procedures such as round trip efficiency, power quality, EMC and functional testing; 
  • Coordinate and support test activities of our experienced R&D engineers; 
  • Data acquisition and reporting. 

Within our R&D department, the Test & Compliance team collaborates on projects across Alfen's diverse product groups, including Transformer Stations, Charging Points, and Energy Storage Systems. Our team consists of experts in various fields such as Test Automation, Software Development, Hardware Design and Electrical Engineering. Together, we strive to enhance the R&D test strategy by adopting industry best practices.

Your profile:

You are genuinely passionate about working in an R&D testing environment, and you possess significant experience in testing electrotechnical products, now ready to take the next step in your career. We are seeking a natural leader with excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills. Moreover, you identify with the following qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering;  
  • 5+ years of experience in hardware testing of electrical engineering products;  
  • Experience in preparing test plans and writing reports;  
  • Profound knowledge of codes, standards and directives for electrical products;   
  • Skilled person electrical safety at least VP NEN3140, preferably IVWV NEN3140.
